Sharing the Love — In Every Bite and Every Action

You’ll often hear us talking about sharing the love — because it’s at the heart of everything we do. The Molly Woppy journey started over two decades ago in Alistair and Hayley’s home kitchen. Their mission? To share a passion for good, simple food done well.

We’ve been doing just that ever since.

👉 Watch our story here.

It’s About More Than Cookies

When we talk about sharing the love, it’s not just about the cookies (though they’re pretty special). It’s about caring for our communities and our environment.

One issue close to our hearts is food waste — something many of us don’t think twice about. But when food ends up in landfill, it decomposes without oxygen and releases methane — a potent greenhouse gas. Meanwhile, many whānau across Aotearoa experience food insecurity. That mismatch doesn’t sit right with us.

Donating What Matters Most

At Christmas time, knowing how tough the season can be for so many Kiwi families, we wanted to spread some cheer the best way we know how — with cookies. We teamed up with:

  • Vision West, who picked up our festive treats and distributed them to families in West Auckland
  • KiwiHarvest, who rescue quality food from supermarkets, restaurants and manufacturers and get it to those who need it most

💚 KiwiHarvest rescues 170,000–200,000kgs of surplus food every month, redistributing it to communities across Aotearoa.

Five Easy Ways to Reduce Food Waste at Home

Want to do your bit from your own kitchen? Here are five simple ideas to help reduce food waste and maybe even save money while you're at it:

  • Meal plan – shop with a plan to avoid buying what you don’t need
  • Freeze leftovers – perfect for future lunches, great for your wallet
  • Store food properly – don’t leave that broccoli in the pantry if it belongs in the fridge
  • Compost – if you’ve been meaning to start, this beginner’s guide from Tui Garden is a great place to begin
  • Stick to a shopping list – avoid doubling up on things you already have (looking at you, third tub of hummus)

How We Reduce Waste at Molly Woppy

At Molly Woppy, we’re committed to minimising waste across everything we do:

  • Our packaging is designed to keep cookies fresh and is fully recyclable
  • Our cookies are handmade in small batches, just like at home – meaning less waste and more care
  • We reuse, roll, and repeat until every last bit of cookie dough is used
