Food Packaging & Sustainability at Molly Woppy
Food packaging can be a tricky one when it comes to sustainability and protecting the environment — and we’re always looking for ways to do better.
♻️ How to Recycle Our Packaging
It’s easy to recycle Molly Woppy packaging — and it’s important that we all do our part. Creating good recycling habits and making sure everything goes into the correct system is a great place to start.
- Once you’ve devoured your cookies, flatten the cardboard box and pop it straight into your kerbside recycling.
- All Molly Woppy plastic is Grade 5 — just shake out the crumbs and place it in the soft plastic recycling bins at your local supermarket.

Why We Use What We Use
Our Artisan and Pantry Pack boxes are printed at a Toitū net carbonzero certified printer using vegetable-based inks on sustainably sourced card. Sustainability is the default setting with these guys — they always seek the lowest impact solution for every job.
When it comes to plastic, we use Grade 5 plastic for one big reason: keeping cookies fresh = less food waste.
Food waste is one of the biggest environmental challenges we face globally, and preventing it starts with proper packaging. Grade 5 plastic is currently one of the best options available — and here’s why:
- It’s versatile and can be remade into lots of things
- It’s easily recyclable in NZ
- It helps reduce landfill waste
- It supports circular use when recycled properly
The good news? Lots of Kiwi businesses are getting behind soft plastic recycling — and most supermarkets now have bins to make it easy.
